They're Back!

What excitement! It was great to have a cast back in town after 12 years. The program has gone through a lot of changes since I traveled as a student... but I'm glad to see it's still the same Up With People that meant so much to me.

Here's a quick clip of when the alumni (myself included!) joined the cast on stage for the finale. What a trip! (I'm the goof ball in the stripped sweater on the right side of the screen.... and Brooke, who also traveled with me, is to the left in a black shirt.)

Carie and I traveled together as students in B97... I've only seen her once since then... until I spotted her in the crowd at the show!

Thank you Cast A08- You were a breath of fresh air!

PS: It was great to see all the young people (including some clients!) in the audience. If anyone interviewed or is interested in interviewing, let me know!

You Meet 'Em Wherever You Go!

Up With People is coming to town Monday... and they still need a few host families. It's a cast of 110 young adults from 28 different countries. What a great way to bring the world into your home! (They're only here for 3 nights.... you can do it!)

This is the organization I spent a year touring with before college. An incredible experience to say the least. It's been 10 years since they were last in town and we're glad to have them back!

While here, the cast will be involved in local education/leadership activities in various schools, and will finish off their stay with their signature 2-hour musical production (host families get 2 free tickets! Additional tickets are for sale at the Mill Coffee house locations).

Contact Louise Wo at lwo@upwithpeople.org or 402.309.9545 to sign up. Let's show them how great Lincoln can be!

Great Frames - Low $$$

Check out the great look I recently got for some of Emir and I's wedding photos. I went to Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and bought 4- 12x12 shadow box frames (50% off!!!). Then I ordered some 12x12 prints featuring a favorite photo (with groovy background) and pinned it inside the shadowbox (pins are even included!).

That's it! They're ready to hang.... now I just need to find some photo nails and a laser level... Emir!? :)

Latin Groove Fest!

If you weren't at the Meadow Lark Coffee House last night, you missed out on a rockin' good time! Son del Llano was in the house.... Lincoln's newest Cuban music sensation. Our family and friends were there to represent.... (and salsa our tails off!)

This is René Paula.... who, like my mother, hails from Havana.

Here's his wife dancing along side my mom (It was a full out dance party at a coffee house!)

Of course, the Cuban rhythms are what draw you in.....

René was a blast to watch... such a soulful, expressive man.

Here's my aunt showing everyone how it's really done on the dance floor....

Great time guys! I'm looking forward to the next gig!

365 Days: Week 3

Ok... so taking a personal photo every single day is a bit much. Instead, I decided to focus on exciting highlights of the week (or... whatever is happening when I suddenly remember that I still need to photograph something!) Ha!

This past week, I was pumped for a couple reasons.

1) I finally found the perfect solution for the hand towel in our office bathroom! (The over-the-toilet table!)

2) We bought this new area rug at TJ Maxx for our office. Lovin' it! (Apparently, Merki loves it too! Is she actually hugging it?)

PS: I'm actually hoping to find another one of these rugs... if anyone sees them around, let me know! (I already called all the Nebraska TJ Maxx stores, as well as Marshall's!) :)
