Happy Feet!

This past week, I got to relive another one of my heart's passions.... dancing and performing. I've been in Denver helping Up With People (they were just in Lincoln in February.... remember?) showcase the entertainment they offer for corporate conventions, and other special events.

Here's a little video clip with some random moments from the show (featuring yours truly! I'm in the black/white/red floral patterned top... and later... a green one for the finale....)

A few more fun shots....

Yes, we strike our own equipment.... work those muscles!

This was the gypsy dance that I performed 10 years ago while on tour.... It is ridiculously fun!

This is Lamar. When I toured, he was our dance captain. The man is INCREDIBLE. Currently, when he's not in Denver helping with this production, he's dancing on cruise ships around the world. Amazing. It was so great to see him again!

The gypsy dance is wild.... lots of crazy skirt twirling!

Very colorful!

Up With People is truly an amazing organization. If you're between the ages of 17-29, enjoy pouring your heart into everything you do, and want to go out and see the world (and interact with it!) you really should check 'em out. I toured between high school and college, and it was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. If you're interested, and have questions, I'm happy to talk with you!

In a Pickle!

About a month ago, I posted about my Jessica Simpson moment where I learned, much to my surprise, that pickles don't grow on a plant somewhere, but instead, are actually.... cucumbers in disguise.

Recently, I came home to find this on my doorstep. Someone (a mystery pickle farmer perhaps?) surprised me with this lovely 'pickle plant.' No note. No explanation. Just this plant, with 'pickles' growing on it. Touché.

Here's Emka performing her inspector duties....

To the mystery pickle farmer.... very clever. You made my day. :) PS: Where in the world did you find pickle ornaments?

Somethin' About the Country

City girl? Country girl? I can't decide... I love so many things about the city AND the country. On my way back from a shoot out in Eagle I was taking the scenic route home and came across these views.... (I've always had a thing for 'no trespassing' signs). I can't figure out why it seems to be a universal rule that no trespassing signs are written on old tires... why tires? I guess they're easy to 'hang.' Interesting....

Calorie Burner

Emir and I recently enjoyed another tandem bike ride.... I tell ya, that was one heck of a garage sale find! Originally, the plan was to work off a few calories, but we ended up biking downtown where we proceeded to order ice cream, and eventually dinner (with fries. Gasp!) So much for the calorie burner.... :)

(This photo was captured by my phone cam... a tough feat while riding and trying not to fall off!)

Time to Get Down!

Robin is so funny.... when she accompanies the girls to their shoots, she loves to play with her camera and shoot pictures of me shooting. Here are a few of what she recently sent me. Ha!

Me and my big ideas.... We hiked out into this field to score some shots, braving all kinds of things like snakes, ticks, and... of course, the heat! What a couple of die-hards!

I just realized that in most of the shots she sent me, I'm doing something ridiculous like this.... Is that some sort of new yoga pose? If not... it should be!

In the studio (bug free... mostly). :)

Thanks Robin! It's always fun to work with you!

A Jessica Simpson Moment...

The other day I discovered a particular variety of pickles that I really liked (as in, eat a whole jar in one afternoon type of like.....). I brought the jar to my desk to snack on while working, and thought to myself... "Wow! These are SO good.... what's in 'em?" So I looked closer at the nutrition label.... "Cucumbers?" I turned to Emir and exclaimed, "Pickles.... are really.... cucumbers????"

How was I supposed to know? I never 'pickled' cucumbers before! We ate frozen pizzas and home made Cuban food at my house growing up (which did not involve pickling cucumbers).

I can't believe I made it 28 years on this planet before figuring this out. Embarrassing!

Anyway, don't you love when life surprises you like that and makes you feel silly? Ha! I'd love to hear stories of your own Jessica Simpson moments!
