Class of 2010: McKenzie

I had the honor of photographing McKenzie's brother Alec last year... and was thrilled when her family called on me again for this lovely lady! Are those eyes piercing, or what!? Simply incredible! senior-portrait-photographer-lincoln-ne-05senior-portrait-photographer-lincoln-ne-06senior-portrait-photographer-lincoln-ne-03senior-portrait-photographer-lincoln-ne-08

We lucked out with the most gorgeous summer day EVER. It was so fantastic, you'd have sworn it was fall. That's the best kind of summer, in my book! :)

Another darling cutie with rockin' bangs.... what is their secret? My hair revolts against me for even thinking about bangs that work.... ha!

Getting this shot involved a barbed wire fence. That's all I'll say about that one. :) (Thanks for your help Lisa! I hope the bug bites are well and healed by now!)

senior-portrait-photographer-lincoln-ne-02Love. Love. Love. Great job. :)

A Little Imagination (and a Cape)

Two imaginative boys  + one pair of blankets = instant super heroes! Of course, these are no two ordinary boys.... they're the extra imaginative sons of Randall Myers... creative genius extraordinaire (and clever designer of the beloved KaBloom logo!). I caught up with them on a recent balmy evening to capture their 'now' moments. The drama of this shot makes it among my faves!

Caden is FAST! But I managed to catch him as he flew by... undoubtedly on his way to perform heroic duties of some sort.....

How classic is THIS?

This just cracks me up...

As the boys climbed the trees, they would occasionally get nervous and reach for Dad. Randall was always right there with strong arms and a quick "I won't let you fall... I'll never let you fall." Isn't that the best comfort in all the world? No wonder Caden looks so at peace on this tree branch in the image below.....

Nothing like some quality wrestling time with Dad!

Sometimes just getting the old skool water fountain to work is an amazing feat of dexterity and patience. Nice job Grant!

I *heart* this image of Caden! He was such a good sport... putting up with me and the camera in his face for so long.... I hope he looks back on this image years from now with a smile. :)

I"m told that Grant is sometimes lovingly referred to as 'ditto' because of his tremendous idolization for his big brother Caden. If Caden is on the tree swing, Grant wants on the tree swing. If Caden is sporting a super hero cape, Grant wants a super hero cape, etc.... It's endearing to say the least. :) Here, both boys catch their breath on the park bench..... (but not for long!)

General monkey business....

lincoln-nebraska-childrens-photographer-13

The boys are quite fond of their butterfly net.... after running around the playground, Grant drags it home victoriously!

The perfect ending to a hot summer day... icee treats in the backyard with brother. :)

lincoln-nebraska-childrens-photographer-07You guys are a great. Enjoy!

Barrel-o-Monkeys

I've never actually experienced a barrel filled with real monkeys.... but I'm pretty sure this crew came close to the real deal! I photographed Shelly's kiddos and extended family the day before Emir and I left for Annette & Brandon's destination wedding in Grenada. What a send-off! Here are Shelly's two little monkeys....

Along with papa and mama monkey....

Here they are again modeling the AT&T reception in the area.... (bars.... ha ha ha!)

The full barrel of cousin monkeys. This shot was about .137 seconds before they all tackled me. The little animals can't scare me! Ha ha!  ;)

Some rockin' monkey dance moves:

nebraska-childrens-photographer-01Way too fun! Great to meet the whole crew. Thanks for your patience while I've been on the road! :)

Beach, Sun, & Snorkel

Greetings from Grenada! I'm on location in the Caribbean for Annette & Brandon's 4th of July wedding and couldn't wait to share some of these pics. We're staying at Annette's Dad's property the Grand View Inn and it's simply fantastic! We truly feel like part of the family and are thrilled to be documenting the beginning of their new adventure in only a few short days. So exciting! WAY more to come after the wedding, but here's a sneak peek of some of what I've captured so far with my lil' purse camera and the corresponding underwater housing.

I shot these just this morning at the beach behind where we're staying. We were the only ones there this morning.... heaven!

In my earlier days, I was a competitive swimmer (I used to be quite serious about it actually!) I swam competitively from the age of 5 until I was about 15 or 16. Needless to say, it's been YEARS since I've trained in the water.... but Emir dared me to see if I still had the moves.... I'm kind of surprised actually! Not too bad! One of my strongest events was the 100yd butterfly and the 200yd IM. Here I demonstrate the butterfly stroke. :)

Today, we decided to hit the boats for some snorkeling. It was Emir's first time... too fun!

Grenada is home to the famed Underwater Sculpture Garden. We found our way to some of the pieces....

IMG_0119IMG_0141IMG_0123

In Grenada, you drive on the left side of the street. Wednesday, we had the abitious thought that we'd score a car and drive the circumference of the island. So, our first stop was the neighborhood police station to get our official Grenadian driver's licenses. (The bowl of fruit you see in the corner is filled with wax apples. Delicious! The officers actually shared some with us!)

IMG_0012IMG_0011

We paid the required $15 US Dollar fee, and were given change in the local currency, the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. I'd never heard of it before... but it's beautiful! Look at the coin with the curved floral shape! Amazing!

IMG_0019

I'll spare you the details of our escapade driving the island on the left.... suffice it to say that we decided that we don't belong behind the wheel here. Ha ha! (Thankfully, the locals are among the nicest and most understanding people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They rescued us from ourselves countless times yesterday! Ha ha!) More to come upon our return!
