Coming Up!

A new KaBloom website is in the works... and will hopefully be live soon! Here's a sneak peak!
The galleries will be ALL NEW (yay!) and sometime soon after the release, the new boutique will be added! Whoo hoo! Stay tuned!

PS: In the meantime, existing clients may notice goofy color schemes and funniness in their private galleries (the cart will still work). I'm in the process of re-uploading every client one by one (a job that might take some time). Just FYI!

Amazing... Simply Amazing

This... is Becki (knee deep in the snow).

Becki asked if I would shoot family pictures for her parents' anniversary.

The catch was... we had to do it on Feb. 10th.

If you reflect for a moment back to that lovely, bone chilling Saturday.... you will probably remember spending most of it in the warm comfort of the indoors somewhere. But not us!

We headed outdoors, to Pioneers Park... where we danced (literally... they brought a portable stereo!!!!!) around in the snow drifts on the lake...

tried out some new moves...

whoa... that looks like it was close!

and had a great time!

Thanks guys. You definitely win the rock star attitude award!!! It was a blast to work with you!

Chosen!

What magical words! I received an email yesterday from the fine folks at Asuka Book asking my permission to feature my Alphabet Book in their Book of the Month collection. How cool is THAT? I'll be sure to let you know when it's posted (it's not up there yet) so you can check it out... for now... I'm still high just from the email..... :)

The full book is still online to view. Interested in having an alphabet shoot of your own? Let me know!  More info on the website is in the works.... :)

Snow Bunny

A few weeks ago when LPS shut down due to the blizzard, and everyone (most people) barricaded themselves in their homes, my phone rang. It was Christine's mom. The conversation went something like this...

"Hello! KaBloom Studios, this is Khara."

"Hi Khara... this is Christine's mom. Isn't this weather great? Let's go shoot Christine's pictures... outside!"

We had been holding off on Christine's senior photo shoot waiting for the perfect snow day. Boy, did she get it! This one with the holiday lights in the background is my absolute FAVE. I love, love, love it!

At the end of the shoot, how could we pass up some snow angels???

Thanks Christine... that was fun!

Just Delivered!

Yay! Look what the UPS man just delivered... my new 20x24 canvas! Woot!

You may notice a few new items added to you client gallery product list. In addition to regular photographic prints, you can have your photos printed on canvas and wrapped around a frame, OR mounted on standout backing! Either way, no framing required - your photos are ready to hang!

This is a gallery wrapped canvas....

This is the back. Hanging hardware is included!

Standout mounts are a lightweight black material that polish off your photos and create a very clean and modern look. These also come ready to hang! Here's a peek from the side....

and from the back of a standout mount.

Emir and I are slaving away to update the website to include the finishing options, jewelry, and handbags.... stay tuned!

The Del Ray Ballroom

I recently wrapped up a photo shoot at the fabulous Del Ray Ballroom in Lincoln's Historic Haymarket. The owners, Shelly and Stan, are updating their print materials and needed some new photos. Naturally, I was happy to oblige. These are some of my favorite shots....

PS: If you've ever thought about taking dancing lessons, this is THE place to do it! It seems like there's always another class starting.... grab a partner and get to it! (You can find Emir and I in the current Tuesday night class... we are LOVIN' it!)

PSS: If you're still not convinced, come to one of their Friday night dances to warm up and see some seriously stylin' moves to get you pumped up.

Butterfly Love

This is a way cool story that I only recently found out about. Sept. 2006 I photographed Mikala & Chad's wedding. As they were walking out after the ceremony, a monarch butterfly landed on her bouquet just long enough to be pose for a photo.

Later, I found out that her family has come to view the monarch as a symbol for her late grandfather. On several occasions since he passed, monarch butterflies have made appearances at special family functions, including her wedding.

Isn't that neat? I just love stuff like that. :)

I hope I did that story justice.... it was passed on to me from Mikala's dad, to my mom, to me... so... hopefully it didn't lose anything in translation. :)
