The Darlings
/Well... that's not really their last name.... but it very well could be! Look at this truly darling family I recently had the opportunity to photograph. I'm pumped because tomorrow I'll be back at their place to photograph their new baby sister!
They have a fantastic play room to inspire the imagination of their two (now three!) kids. :)
I *love* that Turner is wearing a Super Man costume.... so classic!
We decided to head outside and run around the backyard for a bit.... I love this series of images.
Here's Turner with Mr. Darling. :) How cute!
Look at the expression on their faces.... adorable.
Turner decided he needed a wardrobe change. For some reason, I think this is one of my favorite images from our whole shoot. Something about the way he walks with such determination and purpose. I love that his cape is flying, and of course, his boots. :)
This image is iconic to me. I wish I had a photo like this of my mother and I! Fantastic!
Let's get messy! (Thanks for being so brave!)
Lots of love just waiting for baby!
After running around outside, we headed back in. The kids got ahold of dad's iphone. Apparently there are fun little apps like this one that makes silly faces... the kids couldn't get enough of it. Hilarious!
I can't wait to see you guys tomorrow! You are such a beautiful family, and so fun to work with!
The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round...
/I have been waiting for a couple who was game for a love shoot on a city bus! A few weeks ago, Randi & Carl showed up for their shoot.... with an open mind. The dialogue went something like this:
Me: Hi guys! What did you have in mind for your love shoot?
Them: Nothing specific.
Me: For real?????? Boy do I have an idea for YOU! :)
I know they thought I was completely bonkers when I first uttered the words: 'city bus' and 'engagement shoot' in the same sentence. But.... they decided to have a little faith... and... as I promised.... totally worth it!
We rode the bus for an hour around town. So much fun!
On long road trips, games like "thumb war" can be fun!
Not sure who won... but it looks like they're having a good time!
As a photographer, the bus shoot was a big challenge because:
1) You're moving (as in, literally, the bus is rolling down the street and making turns as only a bus can do). Better hold on tight!
2) The light is constantly changing. In the light, out of the light, back in th... wait... never mind...
3) Watching the world go by through a lens on a moving vehicle (especially a bus) has a tendency to induce nausea. Don't forget the Dramamine!
Part of the deal when I first convinced them to 'have a little faith,' was that I promised we wouldn't only take photos on the bus... so we hopped off and scored a few more. :)
Guys: THANK YOU so much for having a little faith and trusting me on this one! I LOVE your photos! Good luck with the international wedding planning.... I'm hoping to see you there! :)

/Boys Will Be Boys
/A few weeks ago I had the honor of chasing these two cuties around with my camera. I love the results!
I love this photo because it seems to represent what little boys are all about... exploration. This little guy was thrilled when I handed him this ol' camera to play with. He was all about pushing buttons, cranking levers... and trying to figure out how to make it work.
Big brother was a little super model in the making....
Not quite sure about all this yet....
Here the boys were explaining their new Wii game... sounded like the game is almost as much fun as listening to them describe it! Ha!
Great job boys! Don't grow up too quick! :)
Married! Chris + Kylee
/The rain clouds loomed in the distance.... the air was cool. Here a drop, there a drop.... pitter patter. It rained, just enough for good luck.... and then quickly dissipated giving way to fantastic fall weather... perfectly suited for an outdoor September wedding!
Here's Chris and his nephew/ring bearer, Ethan, putting on the final wardrobe touches....
Kylee had a wonderful collection of special and meaningful items, including this hairpin that belonged to her grandmother.
Chris is quite the comedian... Looks like Kylee is in for a lifetime of entertainment!
I love this photo! It reminds me of the classic shots you see framed at your grandparent's 50th anniversary party... don't you think? (Just planning ahead!)
This was also her grandmother's rosary....
I asked Kylee to give me 'a look' and look what I got-- Beautiful!
Let it be noted that a spot of rain need not spoil a photo shoot. Way to work the umbrellas you two!
I just love this... so peaceful. So classic. So..... gorgeous!
Chris's 'groom cake' was an enormous ho-ho! Isn't that fun!? (Complete with Batman action figures.) Would you believe he shared the 2nd piece of his cake with none other than little ol' me!? I was honored, and thrilled! That thing was DELICIOUS! :) Thanks for sharing Chris!
The reception was held at the ever swanky and utterly fabulous Del Ray Ballroom.
Thank you SO much for the opportunity to be part of your day you two! I feel like part of the family! Big hugs and best wishes to you on your new adventure. :)
